The Workshop
Create your own organic-shaped oval leaf tray using willow and twine in this hands-on basketmaking workshop with Lisa Dear.
You’ll be introduced to traditional frame basketry techniques, including tying the frame, adding ribs and wrapping the rim. There will also be an opportunity to experiment with different materials and varieties of willow.
Suitable for beginners, this workshop offers a fun introduction to the craft of basketmaking. Good manual dexterity and hand strength are required.
Tickets include lunch and all materials.
About the Artist
Lisa Dear has been weaving willow baskets for many years, combining her Fine Art training with traditional and contemporary basketry techniques to create unique and functional pieces.
She also works with trees and lives in the woods, where she sources natural materials to incorporate into her work.
The Setting
This workshop takes place at Lewes Castle, a medieval castle in the heart of the town.
