Weaving from the Downs to the Sea: A Beginners Weaving Workshop

£90.00

Saturday 6 June
10.30am-4pm

Learn the fundamentals of weaving in this hands-on workshop.

The Workshop

Discover the gentle rhythm of weaving in this hands-on day workshop inspired by the colours and textures of the South Downs. Led by Emma O’Neill and Hilarie Baker, this relaxed introduction is perfect for complete beginners or anyone looking to reconnect with making.

Using tabletop looms and a selection of naturally dyed yarns - coloured by our own garden team - you’ll learn the basics of weaving and begin to create your own small textile piece. We will begin by a walk exploring the coastline outside the gallery. We will then plan our designs, we willbe using naturally dyed yarns which give us a beautiful range of colours to play with.

After lunch, we’ll spend the afternoon experimenting with different fibres, yarns and textures, allowing time to develop confidence on the loom. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a finished woven sample.

Tickets include lunch and all materials.
