The Workshop
Join us for a relaxed Friday evening Collage session at Atelier by Sea in Brighton, set against the vibrant energy of the seafront. Our Friday Social workshop offers a chance to slow things down for a couple of hours, meet up with other craft minded people and explore collage.
Collage is an art technique that uses various materials such as paper, photographs, fabric and other ephemera are arranged and stuck down on to a supporting surface, to create a while new artwork.
Suitable for all levels, this is a space to play, take risks, and reconnect with creating in an easy, low-pressure way. Come along, have a drink, and enjoy making something in the middle of a lively Friday night.
The Artist
Molly O’Neill is an illustrator, animator, and interdisciplinary artist based in the UK. She studied Illustration Animation at Kingston School of Art and more recently for a master’s degree in fine art at the University of Brighton. Alongside her independent practice, she works freelance across illustration and animation, collaborating with organisations and brands including Be the Fox and Unilever, along with local artists and musicians.
Working primarily with moving image alongside illustration and digital hand-drawn processes, Molly explores non-linear narrative, atmosphere, and rhythm as tools for engaging audiences on an emotional level. This approach prioritises feeling, intuition, and reflection as ways of understanding ecological relationships.
Over the past two years, Molly has collaborated with The Writer’s Mark, integrating poetry and the written word into her visual practice. Through live performance, movement, and sound, this collaboration has brought a synthesis of artistic disciplines to fruition, expanding her work into shared, embodied experiences that explore language, ecology, and collective connection.
The Setting
This workshop takes place at Atelier Beside the Sea, an arts venue set within three of Brighton’s iconic King’s Road Arches between the Palace and West Piers. It offers a vibrant programme of art and craft designed to inspire both locals and visitors.
